Treatments
Proper daily oral care and hygiene: Brush teeth twice daily for 2 minutes, along with daily flossing after each meal to remove food particles, plaque and bacteria.
Mouthwashes and breath fresheners: Short term freshener agents are not cures or solutions as they cover-up and mask existing conditions. Alcohol based products may actually worsen your bad breath.
Antimicrobial prescription rinses: This is an effective means of reducing bad breath, even more effective than mouthwash, although not a definitive solution.
Treatment and maintenance of all dental conditions: A first step in reducing bad breath is by achieving a healthy dental state. This requires complete treatment of all periodontal and dental deficiencies including caries, debridement and scaling of gums and roots of teeth, and correcting other anomalies that contribute to food and bacterial entrapment.
Bad Breath Institute Treatment Modalities: Specific treatment procedures designed and implemented by Bad Breath Institute to reduce and eliminate bad breath, especially those associated with the persistent bacterial flora present in the oral cavity where a majority of bad odors originate. This unique method is termed Airigation™ and is only available at the Bad Breath Institute™.
Treating halitosis is a process not a cure! It requires continuous commitment and routine repeated maintenance by the patient just as it would when bathing, dieting, getting healthy, and staying in shape. Once the desired short-term goals are achieved, then one must maintain this achievement through routine repeated maintenance.
Since the primary cause of bad breath is bacteria, there cannot be a magic pill or a permanent cure for this condition. You have more bacteria in your mouth than cells in your body. Bacteria grow and repopulate. As long as a person is alive, the halitosis bacteria will grow in the dark and inaccessible areas of the oral environment. Removing the bacteria with a combination of mechanical and chemical procedures is the only effective means of treating bad breath. Although most bad breath aids are products such as gums, mints and mouthwashes, the only effective means of truly bringing bad breath under control is by seeking the services and guidance of a trained professional in the field.
Achieving fresh breath is a two-step process. First one treats and controls bad breath, then one attempts to get fresh breath. One cannot get fresh breath without first treating the underlying bad breath. To achieve effective, strong and long-lasting fresh breath, one must first treat bad breath.
